Summer Essentials for your Wardrobe Article Summary

A little while ago I read an article explaining what 5 essential pieces of clothing you needed for your summer wardrobe. Their idea of the 5 essentials were a kimono, open toed shoes, a crop top, a wrap around skirt, and something see-through. The opened toed shes are the basic need for any summer time outfit! Coming in many different styles they can go with every outfit. I personally do not like a few things on this list. For instance, I do not agree with the need for a crop top and a piece of see-through clothing. This is to revealing and does not need to be worn. There is no need for you to be showing your torso for a crop top or your bra with a see-through shirt! The style of girls these days is just becoming too inapropriate. Girls are being shown that the more skin you show the more attractive you look. This is so disgusting and so far off. Young ladies should not grow up with these ideas in their head and should just realize that guys do like you if you have a decent amount of clothes on! This is why i do like some of the other pieces of clothing they listed; for example, the kimono and wrap around skirt are very stylish and still somewhat conservative. They have sort of boho feel to them when paired with the right accessories. That is why ACCESSORIES ARE KEY!! They can make or break your outfit. That is why these essentials are just the basics that can change styles depending on the choice of accessories.

  1. I also think that the "stylish" things to wear are becoming more and more inappropriate. Girls have the wrong idea. Crop tops can sometimes be cute, if they are not skin tight and have more than three inches to cover the cleavage. Why would someone want to wear a see-through shirt, they might as well not wear a shirt! If a camisole is being worn under the see-through shirt it would be more appropriate. Or maybe a shirt could be made with a see-through collar and sleeves, but an opaque fabric to cover the girls and the torso.

  2. My question is, why are people changing their ideas of "fashion" to these clothing pieces? 100 years ago they would have NEVER thought of wearing something like this. I completely agree with the whole "see-through and croptop" ordeal. If you want to show that much skin, then just go shirtless! Swimsuits are no better. Maybe your next article should be about swimsuits! I would love to hear what you think :)

  3. Over the past few years, women's and girls' clothing has become more and more revealing. I have even resorted to buying some men's shirts because they are cheaper and cover more skin! (Plus they can be really cute if paired the right way.) The fact that clothing designers are willing to market such revealing clothes to young children is appalling. Now young girls feel the need to show more skin to be deemed as attractive. What they don't understand is that they can look attractive without practically flashing people on the streets.
Love your blog; I hope to see more interesting topics such as this one. :)

  4. I agree. Women's and girl's clothes have become more and more revealing over the past few years. However, there are clothing articles that maintain their staple of modesty and decency without loosing their sense of style. There are very few role models that do not practice modest dressing. Perhaps this is the reason that girls resort to this type of fashion. Furthermore, the girls that dress revealingly seem to hold a popular status in society. This holds true not only in the media but also at our own school. My grandfather once told my mom, "Would you wear that if you were going to meet Jesus Christ?" I believe this is the type of mind set that girls should have when choosing what to wear each day.

    1. I think what your grandfather told you is one of the best sayings I have ever heard! That is definitely something I will use everyday before choosing my outfits!

  5. I agree with you in that modesty is disappearing in clothing in our generation. I think that young ladies need to know that showing more skin is not going to make them more attractive. I love your idea about kimonos and agree that they are a fun way of showing your summer style without baring it all. I love the accessories part of this article and also think that they are a fun way of adding onto a cute outfit and sprucing it up! Personally I love having a good pair of flip-flops or sandals that I can wear with anything throughout the summer time! I love you blog and cant wait for more posts!

  6. More and more girls are showing more skin with the clothes they are wearing because they think they will be noticed. This is why schools have dress codes. And I agree that a kimono is perfect for almost any day of the year and that crop tops are not necessary.

  7. I totally agree with you! In this generation and the younger ones it seems as if all that are on the sales racks are these skimpy and very revealing pieces of clothing. Girls need to do exactly what you said and wear more clothing because when it all comes down to it a boy will like you for who you are, not for your skimpy clothing! Really and truly girls are getting the impression that whenever summer roles around, all you need to wear is some slight clothing and you are set. Well no! That is not always the case because no one wants to see everything about you! Girls can look cute and nice with some decent shorts and just a cute top and you will still fit in.
